It's a TWIN THING!!

 THING 1 & THING 2 shower.  It was so much fun!

We made as many things as we could by hand.  We wanted every detail to be special and they turned out really great!

We set up a table with mason jars and jars of all shapes and sizes and filled them with just about any candy or goody that went along with the color scheme.  We added little detailed picks with pictures from Dr. Seuss books.  Glitter was added to give the pictures some depth and texture.

Marshmallow pops were made and Thing 1 & Thing 2 cupcakes were prepared.  We used cotton candy for the "hair".  My good friend Margie patiently put every cupcake together.

Creative friends...

I love being around creative, inspiring people.  My friend Angie is one of those people.  She recently had a little get together for her daughter Hannah who was celebrating her 21st birthday.  It was Marie Antoinette themed and even though I did not have my camera - I know, I couldn't believe it - I had to share some pictures from my phone.  This was one of those times I really wished I had an iPhone.
Angie made just about every thing by hand.  I loved the creativity and I loved even more that she didn't spend any extra money on the decorations.  She used papers and things she already had at home.

 This was the main table setting.  It was so beautiful!!  Do you see the book text banner in the background with the glittered clothespins?  

 This was a tiny bundt cake with white frosting.  The butterflies were hand-drawn and cut out by her daughter Abbie.  Then Angie printed a picture of Marie Antoinette eating cake, added a lace border and then wrote "Eat Cake" in glitter.  Perfect blues and pinks.

These amazing masquerade masks were all hand-made of course, but the thing that was cool was that each one was different from the other.  Blue feathers, flowers made out of book text, little pink and blue pearls... adorable!!

 Yummy open tea sandwiches made with turkey, avocado and a delectable cream cheese with a green onion dip mixed in it.  These went fast!  She also had cheese fondue.  She said it was called Cider fondue.  Apple cider, cheddar cheese and Swiss cheese.   She had chunks of bread and different veggies for us to dip in the cheese. Just wow.  ***Oh, notice the beaded fork?  She makes those for her etsy too!

 I believe this was inspired by a photo from Pinterest, but I love theirs even better.  It's a Christmas tree made of books!  Of course she has some flowers cut out of book text and added to the lights!

 The coffee/drink table...  I love the simple streamers and streamer made with scallop punches and ribbon!

 This was my absolute favorite thing there.  Look at this paper shoe.  Seriously?  If this doesn't scream Marie Antoinette, I don't know what does.  I'm trying to convince her to open a little etsy shop.  What do you think? Her daughter (who the party was for) has one already.  Let me know if you're interested in anything.

All-in-all it was a beautiful party with an out of this world display.  Again, forgive me for the pictures, but it was just too great to not share here!

Marco's 4th Birthday... Insect Party!!

Warning: Super Heavy Photo alert! haha. Sorry, didn't want to leave out any cool ideas!

Here's a picture of me with my two best guys! Big Marco and Little Marco...oh, and Mr. Tarantula.

Of course, he enjoyed trying to scare his sisters!

Just a closer look!

I made 4 different centerpieces using baby formula cans. I covered them with scrapbook paper, added coordinating tissue and then hot glued large plastic insects that I found at the Dollar Tree. I also added a little bit of greenery with some sticky rubber caterpillars.

This "Bug Juice" is actually Sour Apple punch. I added sprite and a few gummy worms for a special touch! The kids loved it.

I have a good friend that makes the best cakes, cupcakes and cake pops. She made vanilla cupcakes that were filled with strawberry and boysenberry jam. She topped it with frosting that looked like grass and a gummy worm. The top piece was a delicious cake covered with fondant. Looked like a perfect leaf topped with a plastic ant. Yum! Thanks Lorany!

I had another talented friend there that did face painting for all of the kids. She did a wonderful job. Thanks so much Angie!

Naomi got a lady bug on one side and a butterfly on the other.

We played "Bug Toss" where the kids had to toss the rubber bugs into the flower pots for points.

Little Marco helped retrieve the bugs each time...

We played "Bug Bite". Just like hot potato but with a bug. When the music stops, whoever is holding the bug gets bit and is out!

I used my Cricut to cut out a few insects and then we played "Pin the bug on the Leaf" They had to aim for the X on the leaf.

Birthday boy had a special tiny pinata to hit and broke it with one hit.

Then we broke out the big pinata. I covered the original picture on the pinata with a paper plate and a large bug that I cut out with my Cricut. Now it matches with our bug theme. =)

He got so many nice gifts. Many of them bug related, but all of them generous and perfect for a happy four year old boy. It made me so happy that he was willing to stop after each gift to go hug and thank the person that bought him the gift. At the end, he looked up at me and said "Everyone is the best." He was right. =)

More of The Circus Party

I mentioned in a previous post that my daughters were going to a Circus themed party. Well, as I promised, here are the rest of the pictures. I can not take credit for the party itself - that was all Michelle and Angie - my two really good friends. I helped put my two daughters' outfits together and that was fun.

Besides all the goodies the girls received, they also each received a handmade flower for their hair along with a beard and mustache on a stick. When you wear the flower and the beard you become the "Bearded Lady"! Get it? =)

The table had a "big top" type covering above it and the table was decked with all kinds of yummy circus type foods and treats. Frozen strawberry lemonade, cotton candy, bananas for the monkeys, peanuts for the elephants and more!

There were also pickles on a stick, circus cookies, pixie sticks, lollipops, kettle corn...

Here are our two amazing hostesses. Angie dressed up like a gypsy, but somehow got photographed without the scarf on her head, and Michelle the adorable clown.

And the game that was the biggest hit of all - the tight rope walk! There was a string taped down on the ground. Each player was blind folded and given a cane "for balance". The object was to walk the tight rope. Seems easy enough, right? Wrong! Apparently when you are blind folded like that, you feel like you really might be up high and balance was very difficult. haha
